The north coast of the Dominican Republic is on the Atlantic side, and thus the sea is more suitable for energetic watersports than for novice swimmers. Windsurfers, particularly in Cabarate, will be in seventh heaven. All beaches in the country are public, and in this area they are of coarse sand. The Playa Dorada vacation complex, just east of Puerto Plata, is where you will find the main resort hotels of Puerto Plata, along with three casinos, an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course, bike trails, landscaped gardens and an excellent beach for water sports. Interesting sights include Victorian-styled homes and the Amber museum. The Beaches are a must see in Sosua. Sosua offers two kilometers of white sand wrapped around a tranquil cove. This cozy town offers a variety of water sports, catamaran tours, restaurants and nightlife.

The North Coast of the Dominican Republic has become known as the “Amber Coast” for its abundance of amber deposits. Shoppers will find great deals on amber jewellery as well as other favourite items such as wicker, hand-painted masks, ceramics, Dominican art, woven goods and mahogany carvings.

TEACHING SCHEDULE 2 classes every day except for arrival and departure days held in tropical outdoor venues. 

PROGRAM FEE: $500 per week

** Program fee covers the instructor and one travel companion.

***Program fee is an additional $200 for Christmas and New Years weeks

Note - changing travel companions during a teaching placement is not permitted.

Gift Fund:  $100 USD per week

All resorts participate in our Gift Fund. The gift fund is a courtesy and provides resorts with fitness, entertainment and sports equipment. Even luxury properties do not have budgets for the activity/entertainment department. Guest instructors take pride in helping provide items that our resort partners have difficulty acquiring. NRG2GO will completely prepare you in advance regarding what to take. Items will be lightweight and can be packed in a suitcase. Travelling with only a carry-on bag is not recommended.

All placements are for one week, based on Saturday arrivals/departures.  Requests are subject to final approval by the resort.  Do not book any flights until your request has been confirmed. The following weeks are available to request.
