DESTINATION COSTA RICA
-
Costa Rica means "rich coast" and a more suitable title would be hard to find, particularly as it relates to the country’s excessive wealth and abundance in natural beauty. It "offers more beauty and adventure per acre than any other place in the world".
-
It boasts the highest literacy rate in Latin America (96%) and the highest average life expectancy of the industrialized nations. One of the most stable countries in Latin America, Costa Rica is a Central American success story. It has a long democratic tradition, a literacy rate of over 90%, and no army. The population is largely of Spanish descent, and the official language is Spanish. About 95% of the people are Roman Catholics.
-
Ten percent of Costa Rica's territory is made up of National Parks, which inculde awe-inspiring volcanoes, luscious rain and cloud forests, bird and turtle nesting habitats and colourful coral reefs - the best nature has to offer.
-
Although the country is small and it covers only 0.03 % of the surface of the globe (slightly smaller than the state of West Virginia, it can be fit into the state of Texas 23 times!), it proudly shelters a 6% of the existing biodiversity in the entire world including 5% of the world's life forms. 25.58 % of the country is composed of conservation and natural protected territory.
-
Bordered on its eastern coast by the sparkling sapphire seas and natural coral reefs of the Caribbean and on the west by the vast, calm waters of the Pacific, the entire country is blessed with vast network of beaches and coves.
-
Although still a largely agricultural country, Costa Rica has expanded it's economy to include strong technology and tourism sectors. The standard of living is relatively high. Land ownership is wiedspread and property investment is becoming very popular among Americans and Canadians.
-
The relatively new international airport in Liberia has opened up the huge province of Guanacaste, with its 300 km of warm Pacific shoreline and 70 beaches, to a wider audience. Villas Sol is located only about 25 min's from Liberia airport.
-
Although Costa Rica is very small, the capital city of San Jose is about a 5 1/2 hr drive or one hour flight away.
-
The Gulf of Papagayo is home to many of the province’s finest beaches including Playas del Coco; this was one of the first tourist areas of Guanacaste province and as a result, many bars, cafes and restaurants maintain a true Costa Rican feel to them. This area also remains a relatively busy fishing port, which contributes to its authentic feel. It is located 15 min's from Villas Sol.
-
Villas Sol sits hilliside overlooking Playa Hermosa,"beautiful beach", stretching 1.5 km and well shaded, it’s sheltered by a bay and the water is quite calm; Playa Panama, is a secluded cove surrounded by shade-giving trees; Playa Flamingo is a long ribbon of white sand beach; Playa Tamarindo is a perennial mecca for surfers.
RESORT OVERVIEW
-
Overlooking beautiful Hermosa Bay, this silver-rated all-inclusive resort is a little gem. Smaller than others in the area, the service and surrounding views are spectacular.
-
As part of your daily agenda, you're bound to cross paths with iguanas and monkeys. The latter being most entertaining as you'll come across families swinging from tree to tree in the early mornings and evening making their daily commute home!
-
Villas Sol is made up of 54 hotel rooms in one three storey building, nestled on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by graceful palm trees each (room) with a unique ocean view. The property also has 100 villas, most of which are privately owned by Canadians and Americans along with some Europeans and Latin Americans.
-
The new management at Villas Sol is very open-minded, looking for unique ways to increase the services offered to its clients. Our mind/body program is a perfect fit for the tranquil setting and super ambience of this property.
-
One buffet affords gorgeous oceanviews sitting high in the hills, one a-la-carte restaurant and one snack bar.
-
The main buffet restaurant is very impressive. It offers nightly themes always boasting a nice, good selection of local vegetables and fruits plus frestly prepared meat and fish stations along with several side dishes, specialty casseroles and wonderful desserts. After visiting so many 5 star resorts, we can honestly say that while there's only the two restaurants here, the quality of the food is very impressive. Villas Sol's philosophy is that there's something but they don't try to overdo it. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of healthy options available. One meal weekly at the gourmet a-la-carte restaurant.
-
Several bars including open-air disco and swim-up bar.
-
Located on Playa Hermosa beach which is a smooth dark volcanic beach that's about 1 1/2 km in length...sunsets are breathtaking and makes for a gorgeous "Sunset Yoga".
-
Shuttles run frequently throughout the property from lobby to beach as it's a steep climb.
-
Lovely pool areas with more dramatic views of the bay and countryside, jacuzzi.
-
A vast array of daily activities including a boat tour of the bay, snorkelling tour, nature walk and more. Nightly entertainment includes smaller venues which is condusive to the general atmosphere of the property which is fairly quiet and low key. There are some musicians and dancers which visit the restaurant/bar area at night and then there's the disco which offers karoake some nights and music for dancing but for more nightlife a visit to Playa del Coco (15 min's away), is a good option.
-
Transfers are the responsibility of instructor.
